Flulia (pronounced Flu-lia) is the nickname of Australian artist Fiona Cassidy Clinton. Flulia has always had a passion for nature. She remembers days spent lying in the grass and looking up at the clouds as though the flowers and long grass had encased her and she had become one of the tiny beetles or butterflies whose little lives she was fascinated by. Her colourful images evoke visions of nature’s beauty. Flulia’s artwork allows you to have a whole little world encased in each letter of your name, have your own soul or spirit captured with an animal in a portrait or just to own a beautiful LetterArt print in order to ponder what links us to nature. Her images are designed to give you a sense of lying in that grass with her and staring up at the sky together

Flulia is based in Melbourne and has a strong attention to detail. She has spent over 25 years honing her drawing skills. This website is dedicated to her artwork and the inspiration behind it. Flulia has always loved nature but her love of art came from an odd place. Below she talks about just what it was that started her on her journey, an incident in Primary School:

“My first failed attempt was in art class in year 4. It was a cat that looked a bit like a deflated balloon. My best friend saw my attempt and scoffed. That same day she showed me how to draw one correctly. You know – where you draw one circle for the body, one for the head, two triangles for the ears and a squiggly tail. From that moment on I was completely hooked! The very next year I remember getting highly commended on a self portrait I did. When asked how I drew my eyes I had to think for a moment and then said that when I looked really close in the mirror they looked like sunflowers lying on grass.”

Flulia’s ideas/visual diaries are featured on her blog along with her latest drawings and her inspirations. You can read more about Flulia’s artwork on the home page of this website.
